    The summers just seem to be getting hotter. If you live in an area with hot summers, you might be wondering what you can grow successfully during these months. I have certainly planted a lovely patch of leafy greens and herbs just to have them bolt and rush into flowering before I could get my harvest. I hope that you can avoid our past mistakes by choosing the right plants for your climate.

    Under heat tolerant we have tried to find plants that will grow in the South Texas heat. We are experimenting with many this year (2025) and will post our results on the blog.

    Generally when the temps get above 85 most plants tend to bolt and go to seed.

    We will be/have planted tomato (usually cherry and paste will continue to produce in heat).

    We will be planting peppers, pumpkins, southern peas and some other things I have bought that are supposed to be heat tolerant.
