Pepper Cayenne Fiesta Mix 50 Non-GMO, Heirloom Seeds
Pepper Cayenne Fiesta Mix brings colorful, slender hot peppers to your garden and kitchen. This heirloom, open-pollinated blend includes red, orange, yellow, purple, and green colors, with tapered fruits approximately 3 inches long. Use harvested peppers fresh in small amounts, dry them for seasoning, or add them to spicy skillet meals. Expect harvests around 75 days, with timing varying by variety, planting method, weather, and growing conditions. Each packet contains 50 non-GMO seeds for planting. This is a mix of varieties; color proportions vary, and a single plant should not be expected to produce every color.

Why Choose Cayenne Fiesta Mix?
- Colorful variety: A blend of cayenne peppers adds visual interest to harvest baskets, with colors and proportions varying among plants.
- Slender cayenne shape: Tapered fruits approximately 3 inches long are useful for slicing, drying, and adding heat to everyday cooking.
- Fresh or dried use: Enjoy peppers fresh or thoroughly dry harvested fruit for homemade flakes and seasoning blends. Dried colors can change.
- Heirloom and open-pollinated: Grow traditional varieties and learn seed saving with properly isolated plants. Saved seed will not necessarily reproduce the original mix.
Planting Tips for Success
- Start indoors: Sow about 1/4 inch deep in a warm, evenly moist seed-starting mix, 8 to 10 weeks before your last expected frost. Provide strong light after emergence.
- Transplant into warmth: Harden seedlings off gradually and transplant after frost danger passes and nights remain reliably warm.
- Sun and soil: Choose full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Use compost and a soil test to guide amendments.
- Growing room: Space plants approximately 18 to 24 inches apart for airflow and easy harvest access.
- Water consistently: Keep root-zone moisture even without waterlogging, especially during flowering and fruit development. Mulch after the soil warms.
- Feed and support: Fertilize according to label directions and your soil test, avoiding excess nitrogen. Stake or cage plants if branches become heavy with fruit.
- Harvest carefully: Clip pepper stems rather than pulling. Wear gloves when harvesting or cutting hot peppers, and keep hands away from eyes and face.

Recipe: Fiesta Cayenne Garlic Shrimp Skillet
Freshly harvested cayenne peppers bring heat to a quick garlic-and-lemon shrimp skillet. This recipe uses harvested peppers, not the planting seeds in this packet.
Servings: 4. Prep: 15 minutes. Cook: 6 to 8 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 pound raw large shrimp, peeled, deveined, and thawed if frozen
- 1/2 to 1 harvested Fiesta Mix cayenne pepper, finely sliced; start with less for milder heat
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons water
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- Lemon wedges and cooked rice or bread, for serving
Directions
- Wash the pepper and parsley under running water before cutting. Wear gloves to remove the cayenne stem and finely slice the pepper; remove ribs and seeds to reduce heat if desired.
- Pat shrimp dry with paper towels and season with salt and black pepper. Keep raw shrimp separate from ready-to-eat foods.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and the smaller amount of sliced cayenne. Stir for 30 seconds until fragrant, without browning the garlic.
- Add shrimp in a single layer. Cook for about 2 to 3 minutes per side, adjusting for shrimp size, until firm, pearly, and opaque and the center reaches 145°F.
- Add lemon juice and water, stir briefly, and remove from heat. Sprinkle with parsley. Taste the sauce with a clean spoon and adjust seasoning.
- Serve immediately with lemon wedges and cooked rice or bread.
Options and Storage
For a meatless version, substitute drained cooked white beans and heat thoroughly in the garlic-lemon sauce. Cayenne heat varies, so add it conservatively. Refrigerate leftovers in a covered container within 2 hours, use within 3 to 4 days, and reheat to 165°F.
