Southern Pea Texas Cream is a high-yielding, heat-tolerant legume recognized for its dark green foliage and uniquely curved, constricted pods that measure approximately 5 inches in length. (Special Note: We discovered that these are grown right up the street from us (20 miles). We were able to eliminate the middle man and a lot of transportation costs. These were harvested in September 2025. They don't get much fresher than this.) This bush-type variety produces abundant white flowers, which not only enhance garden biodiversity by attracting beneficial insects but also support natural pest control. Its growth habit effectively suppresses weeds and contributes to soil health through nitrogen fixation, making it a valuable companion in crop rotation. Particularly suited for fall planting and animal fodder, these non-GMO heirloom seeds thrive in hot, challenging environments, offering both nutritional and ecological benefits that underline the enduring legacy of Southern Peas. Great for stopping soil erosion and weed suppression. Cowpeas make an excellent Nitrogen source ahead of fall-planted crops and attract many beneficial insects. Cowpeas grow well on poor land and add lots of organic matter to the soil. Also, they make a good animal fodder crop.

This is an heirloom seed, meaning it has been passed down from generation to generation for at least 75 years. As a rule, heirloom seeds taste better and will grow the same year after year.

These are also open pollinated meaning they will reproduce themselves. While all heirlooms are open pollinated not all open pollinated seeds are heirlooms.

Freshly Packed: These southern pea seeds are packed for the current growing season and will provide high germination rates next year as well.
