Growing Directions
Start seeds in a warm location after the danger of frost has passed, or start indoors before transplanting. Sow shallowly in moist, well-draining soil and keep the soil evenly moist until seedlings establish. Give plants plenty of light, water when the top of the soil begins to dry, and harvest leaves regularly to encourage fresh growth. Check local planting guidance for the best timing in your area.

Tulsi Kapoor Basil Tea with Lemon and Honey
Enjoy the aroma of your herb garden in a simple warm infusion made with freshly harvested Tulsi Kapoor basil leaves. This recipe uses leaves grown from mature plants, not seeds from the packet.
Makes: 2 cups. Prep time: 5 minutes. Steeping time: 5–10 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup loosely packed fresh Tulsi Kapoor basil leaves, rinsed under running water
- 2 cups water
- 2 thin lemon slices, plus lemon juice to taste
- 1–2 teaspoons honey, optional, or another sweetener to taste
Directions
- Remove tough stems and roughly chop or gently tear the clean basil leaves on a cutting board.
- Bring the water to a boil. Place the basil in a heat-safe teapot or container and pour the hot water over it.
- Cover and steep for 5 minutes. Taste carefully, then steep up to 5 minutes longer for a stronger flavor.
- Strain the leaves out and divide the infusion between two heat-safe mugs.
- Add a lemon slice to each cup and stir in honey or lemon juice to taste. Allow to cool to a comfortable drinking temperature before serving.
Variation: For iced tea, cool briefly, refrigerate promptly, and serve over ice with fresh lemon. Keep refrigerated and enjoy within 2 days.
