Fruit Strawberry Alexandria 200 Non-GMO, Heirloom Seeds
Fruit Strawberry Alexandria is a distinguished alpine strawberry heirloom prized for its exceptional flavor intensity, aromatic complexity, and day-neutral fruiting characteristics. This perennial variety produces berries substantially larger than wild alpine types while maintaining the concentrated sweetness and sophisticated taste profile that define premium strawberry cultivation. This is a small berry type strawberry, not like the ones you find in the store — but they have so much more flavor. The day-neutral flowering habit extends the harvest season throughout the growing year rather than restricting production to traditional spring-summer windows. The compact, runnerless growth architecture excels in rock gardens, pathway borders, container cultivation, and window box installations — making it invaluable for urban gardeners and landscape designers seeking edible ornamental integration.
Germination Rate: 63%. Test Date: 02/26. JSS.
The USDA sets the minimum at 85% where we do not see any minimum rate in Texas.
We are adding 100 extra seeds to each pack.
Growing Tip: Put seeds in a container with a piece of fine sandpaper and shake. This will increase germination rate and decrease the time needed for germination.
SPECIAL NOTE: Strawberries are hard to germinate, and we recommend that only seasoned veterans try them. They can take up to 4–6 weeks to germinate in a lab under ideal conditions. We recommend that they be started in 4×4 black pots using a germination mix, kept between 65 and 75 degrees. Here in Texas, these plants have lived through six-degree weather and can handle temps as high as 90°F, even higher when covered with 30% shade cloth. Plant them in an area where they can keep growing.
Why Choose Strawberry Alexandria?
- Exceptional Flavor: Concentrated alpine sweetness and aromatic complexity far superior to store-bought strawberries.
- Day-Neutral & Perennial: Fruits throughout the growing year rather than just spring — maximizing yield from limited garden space.
- Compact & Runnerless: No sprawling runners — perfect for containers, rock gardens, borders, and window boxes.
- Heirloom & Open-Pollinated: Passed down through generations — save seeds year after year for a self-sustaining garden.
- Non-GMO Seeds: Plants whose DNA has not been altered in ways that do not occur naturally through traditional breeding methods.
Planting Tips for Success
- Sunlight: Full sun to partial shade — at least 6 hours of direct sun per day for best fruiting.
- Soil: Well-drained, nutrient-rich, slightly acidic soil (pH 5.5–6.5) with consistent moisture. Amend with compost.
- Scarification: Place seeds in a container with fine sandpaper and shake before sowing to dramatically improve germination rate and speed.
- Planting: Start seeds indoors in 4×4 black pots using germination mix. Maintain temps of 65–75°F. Allow 4–6 weeks for germination.
- Spacing: Space plants 6–12 inches apart for healthy development and air circulation.
- Watering: Keep consistently moist but not waterlogged. Mulch around plants to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
- Fertilizing: Feed with a balanced, low-nitrogen fertilizer at planting. Excess nitrogen promotes foliage over fruit.
- Harvesting: Expect some production in the first fall, with full harvests in the second year. Berries are ripe when fully red and fragrant.

Important Disclosures
- Variety Disclaimer: Heirloom varieties may exhibit natural variation in size, color, and maturation. Strawberry seeds are notoriously difficult to germinate — scarification and controlled indoor starting conditions are strongly recommended. Results may vary based on growing conditions, climate, and experience level.
- Seed Storage: Store seeds in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight. Properly stored strawberry seeds remain viable for 2–3 years.
- Planting Zones: Best suited for USDA Hardiness Zones 3–10 as a perennial. Alexandria is exceptionally cold-hardy and heat-tolerant — proven to survive 6°F winters and 90°F+ summers in Texas.
