Sweet, very tender, very small, cream colored pea with a darker eye. Peas hold good on the vine when green. Can be harvested and eaten fresh or frozen for later or left on the vine to dry. Heat tolerant. Lady Cream Pea is an heirloom, open-pollinated southern pea variety that dates back to the 1800s. Also known as “Lady Finger Pea,” this is a smaller field pea with an excellent creamy flavor. The plants are bushy and produce runners that will sprawl, but trellising is not necessary. Just be sure to give them plenty of room to sprawl.

**Cowpeas, Southern Peas, are the most productive and heat tolerant legumes around. Cowpeas come in bush, vine, tall and short varieties. Great for stopping soil erosion and weed suppression. Cowpeas make an excellent Nitrogen source ahead of fall-planted crops and attract many beneficial insects. Cowpeas grow well on poor land and add lots of organic matter to the soil. Also, they make a good animal fodder crop. Puts nitrogen back into the soil. Many farmers will plant southern peas to add nitrogen organically.

Harvest in about 65 days. Germination rate is about 80%.

We cannot possibly put all the directions you need for growing southern peas in your area on the seed package. We recommend that you read articles or check with other gardeners in your area.

This is an heirloom seed, meaning it has been passed down from generation to generation for at least 75 years. As a rule, heirloom seeds taste better and will grow the same year after year.

These are also open pollinated meaning they will reproduce themselves. While all heirlooms are open pollinated not all open pollinated seeds are heirlooms.

Companion planting is planting seed varieties near each other to benefit one or more of the plants. Some plants benefit each other by attracting beneficial insects, keeping away unwanted bugs. Others aid in pollination. Some plants have working relationships with each other and others have antagonistic (hostile) relationships.

Freshly Packed: These seeds are packed for the current growing season and will provide high germination rates next year as well.
