Zucchini Costata Romanesco 25 Non-GMO, Heirloom Seeds

Zucchini Costata Romanesco is a traditional Italian heirloom with great flavor. This distinctive zucchini is medium gray-green, with pale green flecks and prominent ribs. Big, large-leafed, semi-vining plants with only about half the yield of hybrids, but much better flavor; clearly better textured, nutty, and delicious, raw or cooked. Also a good producer of heavy male blossoms for cooking.

Zucchini Costata Romanesco represents an authentic Italian heirloom celebrated for its superior flavor profile and distinctive culinary characteristics that distinguish it from modern hybrid varieties. This 25-seed packet produces medium gray-green fruits adorned with pale green flecking and prominent longitudinal ribs—a hallmark of traditional Romanesco genetics. The robust, large-leafed, semi-vining plants develop substantial canopies that support consistent production, though yields are intentionally moderate compared to commercial hybrids, reflecting the variety's focus on quality over quantity. The firm, nutty flesh delivers exceptional flavor complexity whether enjoyed raw in salads or prepared through cooking methods like roasting, grilling, or sautéing. The dense texture resists mushiness, maintaining structural integrity through various culinary applications. An additional advantage lies in the plant's prolific production of large male blossoms—prized by Italian cooks for stuffing and frying as a delicacy. These edible flowers add both nutritional value and culinary interest to your harvest. Maturity occurs in approximately 60 days from transplant, allowing timely harvests during peak flavor development. With an 80% or higher germination rate, these Non-GMO, heirloom seeds establish readily when direct sown after soil temperatures warm to 60°F or above. Our commitment to sustainability encompasses Non-GMO genetics and fully recyclable, reusable packaging that supports environmentally conscious food production and gardening practices.

This is an heirloom seed, meaning it has been passed down from generation to generation for at least 75 years. As a rule, heirloom seeds taste better and will grow the same year after year.

These are also open pollinated meaning they will reproduce themselves. While all heirlooms are open pollinated not all open pollinated seeds are heirlooms.

Freshly Packed: These zucchini seeds are packed for the current growing season and will provide high germination rates next year as well.
