Pepper Jalapeño Mild, also known as Jalapeño M, brings classic jalapeño flavor to the garden with approachable heat. These non-GMO heirloom seeds produce vigorous plants with medium-sized, thick-walled peppers measuring approximately 1,500 Scoville units. Their meaty walls make them excellent for stuffing, roasting, pickling, and fresh salsa. Harvest green peppers for a crisp, grassy flavor or allow them to ripen red for a sweeter, more developed taste. Matures in approximately 70–80 days from transplant.

Germination Rate: 85%. Test Date: 8/25. OSI.

Texas Minimum Germination Rate: 55%

Why Choose Pepper Jalapeño Mild?

  • Approachable Heat: Approximately 1,500 Scoville units provide authentic jalapeño flavor with gentle warmth.
  • Ideal for Poppers: Thick, meaty walls hold fillings well for baked or grilled jalapeño poppers.
  • Versatile Kitchen Pepper: Use fresh, roasted, grilled, pickled, or blended into sauces and salsa.
  • Reliable Yields: Vigorous plants produce consistent crops of uniform peppers through the season.
  • Heirloom and Open-Pollinated: Open-pollinated plants allow experienced gardeners to save properly isolated seed.
  • Non-GMO Seeds: Produced without genetic engineering.

Planting Tips for Success

  • Sunlight: Plant in full sun with at least 6–8 hours of direct light daily.
  • Soil: Use fertile, well-drained soil with a pH of 6.0–6.8 and amend with compost before planting.
  • Starting Seeds: Start indoors 8–10 weeks before the last expected frost. Transplant after frost danger passes and soil reaches about 65°F.
  • Spacing: Space plants 12–18 inches apart in rows 24–36 inches apart for healthy airflow.
  • Watering: Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Mulch helps stabilize moisture and suppress weeds.
  • Fertilizing: Apply balanced fertilizer at transplanting, then avoid excessive nitrogen after flowering begins.
  • Support: Stake or cage mature plants if heavy fruit loads begin to weigh down branches.
  • Harvesting: Harvest approximately 70–80 days after transplanting, either green or fully ripened red.
