From the USDA Plant Guide

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service describes eastern purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea), the species in this packet, as a herbaceous perennial with reddish-purple to lavender ray flowers that typically bloom from June through August. Its guide notes that E. purpurea seed can germinate when spring-planted without cold stratification, while cold conditioning may enhance spring germination.
