Corn Dent Bronze and Orange 100 Non-GMO, Heirloom Seeds
Corn Dent Bronze and Orange delivers exceptional nutrition and versatility in a remarkably compact package. This high-protein heirloom variety, originally developed by Dr. Alan Kapuler, contains approximately 50% more protein than standard corn and boasts impressive beta-carotene levels for a corn variety. Dwarf stalks reach just 3½ feet yet produce up to 5 ears per stalk — making it ideal for smaller garden spaces and intensive plantings. Harvest roasting ears at the milk stage for fresh eating, or let kernels fully mature on the stalk for superior flour and cornmeal production. A truly exceptional and productive heirloom for gardeners who want maximum yield from minimal space.

- Rich Beta-Carotene: Striking bronze and orange kernels packed with beta-carotene — as beautiful as it is nutritious.
- Dual-Use Versatility: Harvest at the milk stage for fresh roasting ears, or allow to fully dry for superior flour, cornmeal, and masa production.

- Non-GMO Seeds: Plants whose DNA has not been altered in ways that do not occur naturally through traditional breeding methods.
Planting Tips for Success
- Sunlight: Requires full sun — at least 6 to 8 hours per day — for best stalk growth and ear development.
- Soil: Prefers well-drained, fertile soil with a pH of 6.0–6.8. Amend with compost or aged manure before planting.
- Planting: Direct sow outdoors after last frost when soil temps reach 60°F. Plant seeds 1 inch deep.
- Spacing: Plant seeds 4–6 inches apart in rows 30–36 inches wide. Thin to 8–12 inches apart. Plant in blocks of at least 4 rows for good pollination.
- Watering: Keep soil consistently moist, especially during tasseling and ear development.
- Fertilizing: Heavy feeder — side-dress with nitrogen fertilizer when plants reach knee height and again at tasseling.
- Harvesting Fresh: Pick roasting ears at the milk stage (silks browned, kernels plump and milky) for fresh eating.
- Harvesting for Flour/Meal: Allow ears to fully dry on the stalk until kernels are hard. Shell, dry further indoors 1–2 weeks, then grind or store whole. Matures in 100–120 days.

- Variety Disclaimer: Heirloom varieties may exhibit natural variation in kernel color, ear size, and maturation. Results may vary based on growing conditions, climate, and gardening practices.
- Germination Note: Germination rate for this variety is approximately 70% or better. Plant extra seeds to ensure desired stand density.
- Isolation Note: To preserve kernel color and variety purity, isolate from other corn varieties by at least 1,000 feet or time planting to avoid overlapping silk/tassel periods.
- Maturity: This variety matures in 100–120 days — plan planting dates accordingly for your region's frost dates.
