Native American Swamp Sunflower (Helianthus angustifolius) represents a regionally significant perennial wildflower with exceptional ecological and horticultural value. This narrow-leafed species naturally inhabits diverse moisture regimes from waterlogged wetlands and coastal salt marshes to upland drought-prone areas, demonstrating remarkable environmental adaptability. Unlike annual sunflowers, Swamp Sunflower persists as a true perennial, dying back seasonally but reliably regenerating from established root systems each spring. The root mass can be divided in early spring for propagation and sharing, enabling landscape expansion without additional seed purchases. Though individual flowers measure a modest 2 to 3 inches across, the plant compensates through extended bloom duration and prolific flowering, creating the appearance of golden flames across the entire plant structure. This extended flowering window provides sustained nectar availability for butterflies, bees, and diverse pollinators, while abundant seed production supports wildlife populations from small mammals to numerous bird species. The plant reaches maturity in approximately 60 days with a germination rate of 70% or better. Swamp Sunflower excels in rain gardens, swales, and native landscape applications where it bridges ecological niches between wetland and upland species. Optional June pruning maintains desired height. Our Non-GMO seeds are sustainably sourced, while our eco-friendly, reusable, and recyclable packaging reflects commitment to environmental stewardship.

This is an heirloom seed, meaning it has been passed down from generation to generation for at least 75 years. As a rule, heirloom seeds taste better and will grow the same year after year.

These are also open pollinated meaning they will reproduce themselves. While all heirlooms are open pollinated not all open pollinated seeds are heirlooms.

Freshly Packed: These seeds are packed for the current growing season and will provide high germination rates next year as well.
