Chater's Double Mix Hollyhocks are old-fashioned favorites native to central Eurasia and may have been brought to western Europe during the Crusades. Hollyhocks were brought to America by early colonists to be used as medicinal plants and for their easy to grow nature. ‘Chater’s Double Mix’ is a popular heirloom variety developed in the 1880’s by the English horticulturist Chater of Essex. It has large, fully double flowers in a variety of colors including shades of pink, red, white, and yellow. A beautiful option for the back of borders, cottage, or cutting gardens. Attracts beneficial insects and pollinators.

Germination Rate: 86%. Test Date: 5/26. AWSC.

This is an heirloom seed, meaning it has been passed down from generation to generation for at least 75 years. As a rule, heirloom seeds taste better and will grow the same year after year.

These are also open pollinated meaning they will reproduce themselves. While all heirlooms are open pollinated not all open pollinated seeds are heirlooms.
