Beet Rainbow Mix brings four classic heirloom varieties into one packet: Detroit Dark Red, Golden Detroit, White Albino, and Chioggia. Grow a spectrum of colors, flavors, and textures from a single sowing, then enjoy the roots fresh, roasted, pickled, or stored for later. Each variety matures in about 60 days, making this mix a smart choice for repeat spring and fall plantings. Harvest colorful roots and tender greens for two useful crops from one garden row.

Why Choose Beet Rainbow Mix?

  • Four Heirlooms in One Packet: Detroit Dark Red, Golden Detroit, White Albino, and Chioggia provide a beautiful range for the garden and kitchen.
  • Colorful Harvests: Deep red, golden yellow, clean white, and candy-striped roots bring variety to salads, roasted dishes, and pickling jars.
  • Ready in About 60 Days: A dependable cool-season crop for successive sowings.
  • Dual Harvest: Enjoy both colorful roots and nutritious beet greens.
  • Heirloom & Open-Pollinated: Time-tested varieties valued for reliable harvests and authentic flavor.
  • Non-GMO Seeds: Plants whose DNA has not been altered in ways that do not occur naturally through traditional breeding methods.

Planting Tips for Success

  • When to Plant: Direct sow 4 to 6 weeks before the last frost in spring, or 6 to 8 weeks before the first frost in fall. Beets thrive in 50 to 75°F weather.
  • Sunlight: Full sun produces the best root development, though plants tolerate partial shade.
  • Soil: Use loose, well-drained soil with a pH of 6.0 to 7.0. Remove rocks and clumps to prevent forked roots.
  • Planting: Sow ½ inch deep and 1 to 2 inches apart in rows 12 to 18 inches apart.
  • Spacing: Thin seedlings to 3 to 4 inches apart once they reach about 2 inches tall.
  • Watering: Keep soil consistently moist, especially during germination, but do not let plants sit in waterlogged ground.
  • Fertilizing: Apply a balanced fertilizer at planting. Avoid excess nitrogen, which favors leaves over roots.
  • Harvesting: Pull roots when 1½ to 3 inches in diameter. Harvest young greens as needed without taking too many leaves from any one plant.
