Okra Dwarf Long Green Pod 100 Non-GMO, Heirloom Seeds
Dwarf Long Green Pod Okra brings productive, compact plants to sunny home gardens and raised beds. This heirloom variety grows approximately 2½–3 feet tall and produces dark green, tapered pods that can reach 7–8 inches. Pick pods young, around 3–4 inches, for tender kitchen harvests. Allow approximately 55–60 days to harvest, with timing dependent on warmth and growing conditions. Packet contains 100 non-GMO heirloom seeds.

Why Choose Dwarf Long Green Pod Okra?
- Compact growth: Approximately 2½–3-foot plants fit smaller plots and raised beds without the height of many traditional okra varieties.
- Useful kitchen harvests: Young green pods work well roasted, fried, grilled, or simmered in soups.
- Warm-weather production: Okra thrives in summer heat when given sunlight, water, and regular harvesting.
- Heirloom and open-pollinated: A choice for gardeners interested in saving seed, with isolation needed to help maintain variety purity.
Planting Tips for Success
- Sunlight: Choose full sun with at least 6–8 hours of direct light daily.
- Soil: Plant in fertile, well-drained soil amended with compost. Avoid waterlogged ground.
- Sowing: Direct sow after frost danger has passed and the soil has warmed to at least 65–70°F. An overnight seed soak may help soften the seed coat. Sow about 1 inch deep.
- Spacing: Thin plants to 12–18 inches apart, with rows 24–36 inches apart for access and airflow.
- Watering: Water deeply during establishment and dry spells. Aim for even moisture without keeping the soil saturated.
- Fertilizing: Use a balanced fertilizer according to its label or a soil test. Avoid excess nitrogen, which can favor leafy growth over pods.
- Support: Compact plants generally stand on their own; stake if wind or a heavy crop causes leaning.
- Harvest: Check plants frequently and cut young pods at about 3–4 inches. Remove oversized, tough pods to encourage continued production. Wear gloves if plant hairs irritate your skin.

Garlic-Paprika Roasted Dwarf Long Green Pod Okra
Use tender harvested okra grown from your plants, not the planting seeds in this packet. Serves 4 as a side. Prep: 10 minutes. Cook: 15–20 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh, tender Dwarf Long Green Pod okra
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt, or to taste
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, optional
Directions
- Heat oven to 425°F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment suitable for that temperature, or lightly oil the sheet.
- Rinse okra under running water and dry thoroughly. Trim stem ends without cutting deeply into whole pods. Halve lengthwise, or slice into thick rounds for smaller pieces.
- Toss with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Spread in a single layer with room between pieces. Roast for 15–20 minutes, turning once, until tender with browned edges. Smaller rounds may cook sooner.
- Finish with lemon juice if desired and serve warm.
Kitchen tip: Dry pods and an uncrowded pan help the okra roast rather than steam. Add a small pinch of cayenne for heat.
Storage: Refrigerate leftovers in a covered container within 2 hours, or within 1 hour above 90°F. Use within 3–4 days and reheat thoroughly.
