    One of those simple, yet gourmet items rarely seen in markets, except Pinto Beans, the rewards of fresh shell beans usually belong to those who grow their own.

    Prepared like lima beans, fresh shell beans are much easier to grow and shell.

    The cooked bean is easily frozen or canned for winter use. Harvest pods when beans are plump and the vine is dry.

    The dried bean will last for years in an air tight container. Then when needed it can be cooked and eaten or planted to produce more beans.
