Herb Sage White 25 Non-GMO, Heirloom Seeds

White Sage is a woody perennial (takes a couple of years to achieve this). This has a wonderful aroma and loves full sun and sandy, well drained soil. The beautiful white foliage of this indigenous plant sets off the silver-blue flowering spikes. Foliage is light green to white when the plant is young, and turns very white as the plant matures, and especially after drying the leaves.

This is the most highly valued and revered of all North American Sages, burned ceremonially to cleanse the spirit and welcome positive thoughts. Probably the most popular of all plants for smudging, the leaves dry down almost white and burn with an intense smoke. The smoke purifies the surroundings–it is good to smudge the home, the sickroom (it kills germs!) or to smudge after intense human  interactions. Used before, during and after prayer sessions.

Germinates in one week. Once plant is established it will produce many seeds. Harvest in about 85 days. Germination rate about 70% or better.

Update: I have had a terrible time getting these to germinate. I read that the seeds needed to be scarify which is basically "scratching" the seed to break the shell. I did this. Planted the seeds and in about five days had sprouts that are turning into seedlings. The pots I planted without this, have not germinated yet. To scarify these I took a one pound coffee container, put a piece of fine sandpaper, facing inwards, added the seeds and shook them for about a minute. The difference has been night and day. I will be trying this on other seeds I have had a problem germinating.

This is an heirloom seed, meaning it has been passed down from generation to generation for at least 75 years. As a rule, heirloom seeds taste better and will grow the same year after year.

These are also open pollinated meaning they will reproduce themselves. While all heirlooms are open pollinated not all open pollinated seeds are heirlooms.

Companion planting is planting seed varieties near each other to benefit one or more of the plants. Some plants benefit each other by attracting beneficial insects, keeping away unwanted bugs. Others aid in pollination. Some plants have working relationships with each other and others have antagonistic (hostile) relationships.

Freshly Packed: These seeds are packed for the current growing season and will provide high germination rates next year as well.
